I started off like any other beginner – shooting almost everything and anything that seemed interesting. But very soon, it became monotonous and boring. I wanted to do something challenging, something exciting.
I then came across an article which said bird photography is the most difficult genre among all other genres in photography. To capture a high-quality image of a bird, the photographer needs to be physically close to the bird. As you can imagine, it is not easy. The moment you get anywhere near them, they fly away.
I started off trying to get a good photograph of a bird. It took me many months before I could get a decent image of a bird. When I found one, I felt like I found something more precious and valuable than gold. It’s a feeling I cannot easily put in words. It’s unlike anything I have ever felt. That is what made me fall in love with wildlife photography.
The pursuit of photographing birds introduced me to other wildlife. I started spending more and more time in the wild – observing their behaviour, trying to click photographs that could capture their emotions, and simply, tell their stories. Their everyday struggle for survival is fascinating. Observing them is addictive. This became a regular practice and I was neck deep into it even before I could realize it.
