My First, For You

Love is a complicated game. How does one deal with it? Here’s a poem that looks at love & ego.

I like you.
And I want you to know that.
My entire being fills to the brim with illimitable thrill,
every single time you cross my mind.

But around you it’s odd.
There’s a stiffness, I realize.
Perhaps we both know,
how unviable it is.
That it’s a gamble.
Then again don’t we merit a chance?
If only I could hold you in a precious embrace
and concede how much I care.

I solemnly want you to know this
and see how things pan out.
And perchance along the way, I’ll find myself.
Uncertain if I’m being egotistical here.
And yet, isn’t that a given?
