It’s hot summer, the warm wind blows, skins already tan, and the toes and knees of the ones in the field are bleeding. Jerseys are dirty and the floor is sludgy. The game is getting more and more intense.

Known by different names – Hu-Tu-Tu in the West, Ha-Do-Do in the East, Chedugudu in the South, and Kaunbada in the North – Kabaddi is popular in every corner of India. It is the official game for the states of Andhra Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Karnataka, Kerala, Bihar, Haryana, Maharashtra, Punjab, Tamil Nadu, and Telangana. Currently, it is Bangladesh’s national sport and used to be one of Nepal’s national sports. The sport, which is approximately 4000 years old, has gained international popularity in the past few decades.
