A friend’s telephone call
Has walked across the
Length of the atlas
And has settled on my pillow
Seeking rest from travel.
Our time zones
Remain at the mercy of
The turning of the world
Her early morning
Looking into my night
Like children in the examination hall
Peeping into each other’s scripts.
