Why Bhutan Is An Outlier In The Fight Against Coronavirus

Bhutan is an outlier in the fight against this global pandemic. Do we have much to learn from this glorious kingdom?

The whole world is in a lockdown mode. Some of the most powerful nations in the world are struggling to deal with this global pandemic. However, Bhutan, a tiny landlocked country in South Asia, appears to be in a very stable state.

Despite so many infrastructural challenges, how has Bhutan been so successful in monitoring the COVID-19 cases inside the country, and keep it so low?

So far, only five positive cases have been reported. There are no long queues to hoard soaps, sanitisers, vegetables and groceries. For observational and preventive purposes, select institutions have been shut down, and students have been sent back home. However, until now, no severe measures have been taken to socio-physically distance the people.

As one walks in the market, one can see that life is going on with its normal course. So, what could be the possible reasons behind it? We identified four prominent factors that have enabled Bhutan to tackle the situation effectively.
