The gap between the rich and the poor is iniquitous. How can we rectify this deplorable situation?

As we danced into the year 2019, how many of us reckoned that human nature does not necessarily change with the calendar? We will face the same the problems and challenges that we faced in 2018 and some new ones in 2019.

But the critical question is: Do we have political leadership that has the moral maturity and commitment to address the issues?

As we look around the world, the answer is painfully clear. We see, sadly, that the morally bankrupt are acquiring more and more political power – whether it is Erdogan in Turkey, Putin in Russia, Xi Jinping in China, Mohammad bin Salman in Saudi Arabia, to name only a few.

How many of us take note of the fact that eleven children under the age of five die every minute, and that almost all the deaths are preventable with the resources at our command? These avoidable deaths occur, owing to the lack of potable water, lack of breathable air, lack of food, and lack of medical care. In short, lack of care and love.
