Should the Indian government be taking a cue from Harold Wilson rather than Binyamin Netanyahu?

Tywysog Cymru, one of my favourite episodes of the TV series, The Crown, features the story of Charles’ investiture as the Prince of Wales. In the 12th-century, King Henry II of England conquered various parts of Wales. With the defeat of Llywelyn ap Gruffudd, Wales came under the British crown.

In the present day, Wales is a country that is part of the United Kingdom. It sends MPs to the UK Parliament. However, it also has an autonomous legislature. Though most people in Wales can speak and understand English, a majority of them speak Welsh.

Wales has its own national sports teams. They compete in the FIFA World Cup, the Rugby World Cup and Commonwealth Games. However, in the Olympics, Welsh athletes represent Great Britain.

A distinct Welsh identity has been in place since the 5th century. Though it has been part of the United Kingdom for several centuries, Wales continues to maintain its identity, language and local traditions.
