If minorities have misgivings about the uniform civil code, the problem lies with the government's approach.

In the Uniform Civil Code (UCC) debate, people take positions depending on their political and ideological preferences. However, a critical point in the process–i.e., the efficacy of the law as an instrument of social change–is not getting the attention it deserves.

In India, people seek legal recourse to address complex social issues. Despite uninspiring outcomes, people tend to see the law as an instrument of social change. The Uniform Civil Code is a point in case.
