After a Russian lab worker’s death, possibly due to Plague, nearly 200 people are quarantined. Here’s what you need to know.

The death of a laboratory worker in Siberia has prompted a precautionary quarantine of almost 200 people and raised questions about a possible case of pneumonic plague. However, Russian authorities have yet to confirm what caused her illness.

Darya Shipilova, 28, became ill while working at the Irkutsk Anti-Plague Research Institute of Siberia and the Far East and died on October 2. The circumstances of her death remain unclear.
