P A George

Dr P.A. George is Professor at the Centre for Japanese Studies of the School of Language, Literature and Culture Studies, Jawaharlal Nehru University. With more than 28 years’ teaching experience, he has published over fifteen books on Japanese language and literature; he has also translated several renowned Japanese works into English and Malayalam. Several books and academic journals have carried his articles and essays. He has been Visiting Professor, Fellow and Scholar at Japanese Institutions, including at the at International Research Center for Japanese Studies (Nichibunken), Kyoto, Kwansei Gakuin University, Iwate University, and Waseda University. In 2016, he was conferred the Japanese Foreign Minister’s Commendation for Promoting Japanese Research in India. Among other honours that he has received is the 12th Miyazawa Kenji Shoreisho Award for outstanding research on the celebrated writer Miyazawa Kenji and his works.
