Edward B. Westermann
Edward B. Westermann is a Regents Professor of History at Texas A&M University-San Antonio. He received his PhD in History from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He is the author of numerous publications related to the Holocaust and World War II, including his recently published "Drunk on Genocide: Alcohol and Mass Murder in Nazi Germany" (Cornell, 2021), "Hitler's Ostkrieg and the Indian Wars: Comparing Genocide and Conquest" (Oklahoma, 2016), and "Hitler’s Police Battalions: Enforcing Racial War in the East" (Kansas, 2005). His newest book looks at the intersection of alcohol, celebratory ritual, and masculinity in the conduct of genocide. He has been a Fulbright Fellow, a German Academic Exchange Service Fellow on three occasions, and a J.B. and Maurice C. Shapiro Fellow at the U.S. Holocaust Memorial Museum in Washington, D.C.
