Ayesha Jehangir

Dr. Ayesha Jehangir is a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the Centre for Media Transition at UTS. Her research focuses on media narratives of war and peace, press freedom in authoritarian states, and digital activism. Her forthcoming book is: 'Afghan Refugees, Media and the State: The Missing Peace' (Routledge UK, 2023). Ayesha is co-secretary of the Journalism Education & Research Association of Australia (JERAA), member of JERAA Diversity Advisory Board and an Associate Fellow of the Higher Education Academy. She has worked as a journalist in Afghanistan, Australia, Germany, and Pakistan for several media organisations, including The Express Tribune, Deutsche Welle and SBS News Radio.
