When you are away from a familiar place,
You experience this undeniable and maddening hollowness.
It’s like a bird’s nest that’s been vacated,
Only waiting for the migratory bird to return home.
This deep feeling of emptiness is suffocating me,
Like a child breathing in all the smoke
In an attempt to mellow the hollowness.
I find you and me in pairs,
Everywhere I go.
My feelings creep in like the silent whisper of mist on rainy days.
They fog up the window of the car I’m in.
They pour in like spring water from bamboo shoots.
My love for you is stained everywhere you look.
It’s in the pressed flowers that remind me of you,In the dried leaves you love stepping on.
It’s in pairs of everything,
Everywhere.
I see two pens — I’m reminded of us.
I see two wires intertwined — I’m reminded of us.
I am seeking you everywhere I go.
Your love is a postcard in my backpack
That I don’t wish to let go of.
You are everywhere,
And I breathe you in wherever I go.
