Once upon a time, a dragon vented out its fire;
It ravaged vineyards and stifled the old and the sickly.
As the fire spread, the eagles, lions and pangolins fled home;
So did the sapiens.
Alarmed and agonised, they locked themselves in isolation.
Days later, mockingbirds struck confident notes,
And trees looked youthful and restless in jubilant wind.
Natives returned.
At home, fear made people humble, yet hopeful;
and distancing drew them closer.
