Kalyani Sethuraman's rendezvous with a temple priest in Afghanistan inspired her to tell his tale through her verse.

A large grey building,
A rickety gate led in,
Will it stand if there was a blast?
An idle thought wandered through my mind,
It looked like a nondescript ministry,
It was the mandir.

An Afghan looked at us,
Dirty, unkempt, hostile?
Are you the priest? I asked.
I am, came the answer,
