What is Netanyahu’s ultimate goal? More than merely stopping Iran from acquiring nuclear weapons, his broader aim is to assert Israeli regional hegemony.

To untangle the complex web of geopolitics in West Asia in the context of Prime Minister Netanyahu’s aggression against Iran—an aggression that could escalate into a full-scale war with catastrophic consequences not just for the two nations but also for the region and the world—it is essential to raise a few key questions.

Why did Netanyahu choose to strike now? International Relations scholars often fail to consider the psychology, including the psychopathology, of political leaders in positions of power. If Prime Minister Neville Chamberlain had tried to understand Hitler’s intentions and strategy by reading Mein Kampf, the course of history might have been very different. Upon returning from Munich on 30 September 1938, after agreeing to Hitler’s annexation of a part of Czechoslovakia, Chamberlain declared that he had preserved peace in Europe.
