What is it like to give up on life when you are young? Jaya Nair's poignant poem.

A man.
Not aged, not at all.
In his prime, as they say.

The hands.
Left loose.
Not eager, ready or throbbing.
Not anymore.

The feet, heavy.
Dragging chains of inertia
Cast, piece by piece,
By deeds past, long dead,
Started in triumph, perhaps,
But dwindled into nothing.
