Of all the political parties in India, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), has the highest number of ‘MPs (Members of Parliament) with declared criminal cases,’ according to a report published by the Association for Democratic Reforms (ADR). Of the 339 MP’s analyzed by the ADR, a staggering 107 Members of Parliament of the BJP – almost 32 percent – have ‘declared criminal cases’ against them.

According to the report, prepared by analyzing data taken from the Election Commission of India (eci.nic.in), the BJP stands out as the political party with the highest number of:
- ‘MPs with serious declared criminal cases’ (64 out of 339, 19 percent)
- ‘MLA’s (Members of Legislative Assembly) with declared criminal cases’(451 out of 1451, 31 percent)
- ‘MLAs with serious declared criminal cases’ ( 295 out of 1451, 20 percent)
- ‘MPs/MLAs with Declared Cases related to Crimes against Women.’ (12)
- ‘MPs/MLAs with Declared Cases related to Hate Speech’ (27)
- ‘MPs/MLAs with Declared Cases related to Kidnapping’ (16)
- ‘MPs/MLAs with Declared Cases related to Murder’ (19)
