Here is the account of a Skype meeting chaired by Socrates between some heavenlings and earthlings. The heavenlings included Mahatma Gandhi, Jawaharlal Nehru, Mother Teresa, Bertrand Russell and John Maynard Keynes.
The earthlings included Padmini Sundaram from Chennai, an independent journalist; a minister from the Union Cabinet who wants to be anonymous; and Kaushal Kishore, an advocate who appeared in the Supreme Court on behalf of the Government of India in the Rafale case.
Socrates: Good morning, ladies and gentlemen.
We the heavenlings have been carefully observing India in the recent months, at times with dismay and disquiet. I want to thank my fellow heavenlings as well as the distinguished earthlings for attending this conversation. The aim is to arrive at the truth. In war, the truth is the first casualty. Similar is the case in politics. However, given goodwill and diligence, it is possible to arrive at the truth on earth as well as in heaven. When earth and heaven combine to seek the truth, nothing can stand in their way. I would urge all participants to defend their thesis with logic and truth. Above all, they should listen to each other and change their views when the other side has advanced convincing arguments.
Is that OK?
