Operation Sindoor: India-Pakistan Tensions Soar After Precision Airstrikes

Operation Sindoor represents not only a tactical manoeuvre but a symbolic assertion of India's resolve to act decisively against cross-border terrorism.

On May 7, 2025, India launched a series of coordinated airstrikes under the codename “Operation Sindoor,” targeting nine sites across Pakistan and Pakistan-administered Kashmir. The military operation was presented as a direct and proportional response to a deadly terrorist attack that occurred two weeks earlier in Pahalgam, a town in Indian-administered Kashmir.

That attack, which claimed the lives of 26 civilians—mostly Hindu tourists—was attributed by Indian authorities to Pakistan-based jihadist groups, notably Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) and Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM), both of which have a long history of militant activity in the region and alleged ties to Pakistan’s security establishment.
