China’s expansionist agenda is predictable. It follows an unimaginative template based on lies & military aggression.

China’s expansionist agenda is boorish, intent on aggressive militarisation and breaks basic norms of diplomatic engagement. To grab territory, the dragon-nation follows a clear template:

First: claim “historical rights” over a territory; Second: invent “facts” to justify those claims; Third: create “disputed territories” and establish military bases in the name of “safeguarding sovereignty” and “defending territorial integrity”; Fourth: serialise military drills under the pretext of “ensuring peace and stability” and facilitating “win-win co-operation”; Fifth: use inducements and “debt-trap diplomacy” to create pliant states that push China’s agenda; Sixth: launch “Wolf-Warrior diplomacy,” using aggressive cyber warfare, and attack anyone (domestic and international) who criticises China by spreading conspiracy theories and lies; Seventh: cry victim, complain of “foreign aggression” and “long-arm jurisdiction,” block discussions critical of China’s actions in the UN Security Council by using its veto power.

One can observe this pattern in almost all of China’s moves – be it in the South China Sea, East China Sea, Yellow Sea, Arabian Sea, Indian Ocean, or in their disputes with the Philippines, Indonesia, Taiwan, Vietnam, Japan, South Korea, North Korea, Singapore, Brunei, Nepal, Bhutan, Laos, Mongolia, Myanmar, Tibet or India.
