Cop-26: Was It A Cop-Out?

COP 26, the climate change conference in Glasgow, gave out a lot of hot air. The leaders could have done more to save the planet.

Yes, it was almost a cop out. It took two years of diplomatic preparations for the drama to be staged in Glasgow for thirteen days acted by 4972 states and organisations represented by 39,509 delegates, some of whom went without sleep in the last few days as often happens in such conferences.

Tens of thousands of global citizens, including Greta Thunberg, 18, exhorted and excoriated their governments for their apathetic attitude to the perilous state of the planet. She told her supporters in Glasgow that COP-26 was a failure.

Let us look at what was achieved, what more could and should have been achieved, and why that was not the case. The planet remains in the intensive care unit, with the doctors having a seemingly endless discussion before attending to the dying patient. But not all the doctors are competent or sincere.
