Sir M Visvesvaraya: The Man Who Opposed Gandhi

Visvesvaraya often presented sensible arguments against Gandhi’s ideas in a nation that immensely admired him.

Gandhi’s slogan was ‘Industrialise and Perish.’ Sir M Visvesvaraya (Sir MV) claimed the opposite: ‘Industrialise or Perish.’ Gandhi did not support machinery as an alternative to manpower. Sir MV believed mechanical power could bring faster results for the country than man power.
