Mridula Ghosh

Mridula Ghosh

Based in Kyiv, Ukraine. Expert in political science, international relations and foreign policy, poet, translator, journalistand human rights activist. She was bornin Kolkata and graduated from Presidency College, Kolkata. She holds a PhD in international relations from Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv. She worked for many years at the United Nations, was editor-in-chief of the Eastern Economist magazine, and a board member of the International Renaissance Foundation. Today, she teaches diplomacy and foreign policy at the National University of Kyiv-Mohyla Academy, one of the oldest educational institutions in East Europe, established in 1615. She also chairs the East European Development Institute, which implements human rights projects. Mridula Ghosh writes poetry, essays, analytical articles and stories. She also translates poetry and literature from East European languages, such as from Ukrainian, Russian, Belarusian, Bulgarian, Macedonian, Polish, Slovak etc. into English and Bengali. She is the author of the first ever translation of Ukrainian literature into Bengali: the anthology “Ukraine Alpona – UkrainskyiVizerunok”, containing works of 28 Ukrainian poetsfrom ancient till modern times and LesyaUkrainka’s drama ‘LisovaPisnya’ (Forest Song) – AaranyaSangeet. Being well versed in Indian classical dance and theatre, she is one of the founders of the Federation of Indian Dance in Ukraine. She initiated the Tagore Center, she has launched many artistic projects, an exhibition of Tagore’s paintings and the project “An Eye for an Eye makes the Whole World Blind” dedicated to Mahatma Gandhi. She authored and hosted a weekly live TV show “Pro Svit” (About the World) on the TVi channel. She is a passionate advocate of intercultural dialog and diversity.
