Eric Storm
I am the author of Nationalism: A World History (Princeton University Press 2024), which provides a global overview of the rise and evolution of nationalism from the early modern era to the present. Originally I am an expert of Spanish history of the 19th and 20th century, but I did a lot of comparative research, comparing Spanish developments with those of other European countries (mainly France and Germany). My research primarily focuses on the construction of regional and national identities, the history of tourism, world fairs and food history. Recently, I expanded the scope of my investigations to encompass the entire world.
I regularly contribute to media outlets in the Netherlands and Belgium and my books have been positively reviewed in the USA (Washington Post and Wall Street Journal), the Netherlands, Belgium, and Spain. I have been a visiting scholar at the Universidad Complutense Madrid, Oxford University, the Netherlands Institute for Advanced Study, and Freie Universität Berlin.
