I am currently employed as a Senior Lecturer in Politics at York St John University. I have previously held positions at the University of Sheffield, the University of Liverpool, University of Leicester and the University of Winchester. My current research interests are situated within British politics. I have published a monograph The Political Economy of Britain in Crisis (Palgrave Macmillan) which explored the crisis of the 1970s and the economic crisis of 2007. I have further published work exploring the origins of the 2007 crisis and on the 2012 Police and Crime Commissioner Elections and the 2014 by-elections.

About Madras Courier

The Madras Courier is the first newspaper to be established in the Madras Presidency, British India. Published on October 12, 1785, it was the leading newspaper of its time. Selling for a princely sum of one rupee, it thrived for three decades.

Two centuries later, this legacy is revived digitally. Today, the Madras Courier serves a global audience of curious, intelligent readers interested in South Asian affairs. We curate interesting stories that enhance our understanding of the world in meaningful ways.
