You

Here’s a poem that pulls your heartstrings.

Dusk hastens yearning
for garam chai, enticing
memories of long lost evenings;
compulsive tales, laughter and indignant cries!
for memories of books once read,
persons we knew, real characters
or cinematic, even in poetry and prose.
Subconscious memories surface yet
regressive therapy belies absolute truth.

Dusk hastens flashbacks
that make me weary; so my love,
to harness sorrow, I focus
on the first single red rose
you plucked at eventide, long ago.
In the haze of smoke, sips of elaichi chai
your silhouette in the distance crimsons my cheeks,
I bask in your immortal love; in the prelude to night,
do stay awhile….dare I sleep ?

I  continue to battle unfathomable sorrows
from the cult of Motherhood.
