I.

The air is still and pleading;
the gears of the earth turn ever so slowly.

Heat sinks into the empty spaces,
swallows them up with a gasp.

II.
A sweet breeze enters the bedroom;
beyond the balcony, branches tremble.

A flash of lightning across the sky.
Thunder rumbles.
