The city has lost its alarm clock
and its watch. Bird call doesn’t
wake it up and crickets don’t dull
it to sleep. The city sounds alien now
Deafening traffic noise
no longer grates its ears. Hawkers’
calls are forgotten and children’s
din don’t put their school bells to shame.
