You thought you owned your mind,
Though body could be manacled,
That freedom to think was inviolable,
Universally upheld, and non-judiciable.
Until hegemonic power got entrenched,
Laid siege to culture and beliefs,
Made your mind its final battlefield.
Until artificial intelligence exploded,
Bending the pathways of your thought.
How do you protect-
The unique gift of your species?
How do you save the one thing
That makes existence worthwhile?
When the policeman knocks on its door,
And the mind is hauled up for trial
How does one prove its innocence?
When generative intelligence has stormed
The inner chambers of your thought,
Once the Faustian bargain has been struck,
How do you keep your consciousness pure?
