Black and blue ink
Name to be written in the
Mother tongue and
Signature in English

We’ve transferred the rusty
Framed photographs
Covered in newspapers
Neatly decked in our new shelf
We’ve taken the name-plate too

The spirit of the house
The living memories of every ancestor
Who dwelled in it
Have been summoned to a brass pot
And sent floating down a holy stream
