As the global economy continues to evolve under the influence of digital technologies, artificial intelligence, and the proliferation of intangible assets, traditional metrics like Gross Domestic Product (GDP) are increasingly seen as inadequate for capturing the full scope of a nation’s economic reality. In this context, the proposal to develop a Gross Domestic Knowledge Product (GDKP) is both timely and necessary. It reflects a growing recognition that knowledge is no longer merely a contributing factor to production—it is a primary driver of economic activity in the twenty first century. Constructing a GDKP is essential not only to supplement existing economic indicators but also to reframe how we define national prosperity in a knowledge-based global economy.
