#1. Journalism Internships
The Madras Courier is offering six-month paid internships. This is a great opportunity for promising young journalists to gain paid work experience at one of the leading news organisations.
The position requires excellent writing skills. The applicant must have knowledge of current affairs and an interest in international affairs, politics, history, art, culture, photography, food and fashion.
As an intern at the Madras Courier, you will write for a 234-year-old newspaper, now revived as an award-winning digital publication. You will be placed as a reporter on the Web Desk.
As part of the team, you will research stories, check facts, verify information, connect the dots and write stories that are in the public interest. The interns will also be actively involved in data mapping/ data journalism and social media campaigns.
Due to the pandemic, the internships will initially be offered as remote placements with the hope of joining the newsroom at a later stage.

#2. Social Media Manager
The Madras Courier (www.madrascourier.com) is looking for two Social Media Managers on a full-time basis. As part of the team, you will be communicating a 234-year-old news brand’s stories and perspectives on social media.
The position requires excellent writing skills in English (with an eye for detail), familiarity with online communities (Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn, Facebook, Reddit, YouTube, Clubhouse etc) and a knack for engaging with people digitally. You will also be expected to know the basics of Photoshop and Word Press.
As a part of the Madras Courier team, you will also be involved in print, web and video campaigns; planning strategies and executing content-delivery. Experience with social media, advertising and marketing strategy will be a bonus.
Candidates with prior experience handling popular accounts will be preferred (do keep all references ready). Please make yourself familiar with Madras Courier’s content before applying, and state why you would suit the role of a social media manager for the publication.
